Why do i seem not to tolerate carbs well in the mornings?

Hello everyone! I am doing paleo + IF 16:8 close to 6 years now. Amount of carbs i eat in a day varies from 50g to 150g. Lately i narrowed eating window down to 4-5 hours and i like it even more. I eat at 8am and 1pm and fast after that. What i noticed is that if i eat carbs in my first meal (8am) it seem to give me anxiety lasting for the rest of the day. If i eat the same amount of carbs for 2nd meal (1pm) i am much better. Why is that? [Question] Keto vs paleo, general questions

I need to eat a healthier diet in order to mitigate my skin problems. I have problems with folliculitis/fungal acne and it completely dissipates when I am in ketosis. Since I want to keep my sanity I’d like to eat 100g+ carbs once a week. Is this unhealthy/damaging to my body given that I am in ketosis? Would it be a better choice to just not be in ketosis and go for a hybrid paleo/keto diet? I’ve never actually tried paleo so if anyone has had sucess with reducing/abolishing folliculitis I would appreciate your input. Since this thread is both a matter of keto and paleo I hope it does not get deleted. I tried posting in r/keto but they deleted it due to “encouraging” cheating. I just wanna know whether if it affects my body badly. becoming fat adapted at 100g carbs

im starting a primal/paleo lifestyle. im looking to become fat adapted so my body can fuel itself primarily from fat. i know it takes time to get fat adapted. in the primal blueprint, it states 100-150g carbs a day is perfect for weight maintenence. also this article ( https://www.t-nation.com/diet-fat-loss/one-hundred-gram-carb-cure ) states 100g carbs is ideal and is low enough to be primarily using fat as fuel. my question really is…. is 100g carbs low enough to become fat adapted? will my body start using primarily fat for fuel and adapt to be able to burn fat for fuel with this level of carbs (100g). 100g carbs is a carb amount i believe i can stick to long term and make a lifestyle… whereas keto isnt. also going strictly keto i go through bad keto flu (carb withdrawals?) whereas i dont at 100g carbs….. so the transition to being a fat burner wouldnt be as painful if i could do it at 100g carbs submitted by /u/Joshpills [link] [comments] from paleo diet https://ift.tt/2G

Does anyone else find meal prepping helpful to maintain the diet?

Lets face it, Paleo is expensive. And when cooking for myself on tiny budget/small amount of time, I found it was easiest to plan out my meals in advance for the month and shop/cook my food accordingly. Basically, if a month had four Mondays in it, I’d look for a recipe that made four to five servings, double the recipe ingredients to make 8-10 servings, and would eat that meal every Monday for lunch and dinner. the other days of the week would have different meals from Monday, but I always knew when to start thawing my upcoming meal for what day. To add variety, breakfasts are different every week. So say I have paleo pancakes for the first week of the month and Monday’s lunch/dinner is Paleo lomo saltado. Next week on Monday, I’ll still have lomo saltado, but the breakfast for that week is something like paleo pumpkin muffins. Anyway, it just gives me a little something different day to day, and because I eat the same meal for lunch and dinner, I’ll often plan all my meals to have

Difficulty transitioning

A little over a month ago I tried switching to a paleo/low carb diet. The low carb flu hit me real hard so as of the last couple weeks I eased up and now stick to just standard paleo though still relatively low carb (no sweeteners of any kind, occasional fruit). Still, despite eating balanced meals, fats, I feel so unwell during the day I can barely perform. For one, I feel lethargic, also just antsy and uncomfortable (I don’t know how to describe the feeling). It’s like I want to eat something to ease the discomfort, but it’s not a feeling of hunger because I can usually still feel food in my stomach digesting from earlier. I also got dizzy spells which went away after I ate more carbs. I thought the low carb flu would go away after this amount of time but nothing is changing. Could it be electrolytes? What's with rice?

Rejoining paleo after taking a several year hiatus. I’m noticing some paleo-related posts and articles mentioning “if you have rice in your diet” and similar sentiments. AFAIK from doing paleo from 2010-2012, rice was completely off the table unless you’re, like, a triathlete. Did I miss some update wrt rice? Trouble transitioning back from vegetarian to paleo/primal + getting enough fat

After almost a year of eating vegetarian in protest of factory farming, I came across an article convincing me that low carb is the way to go. I was very happy and healthy eating primal (I eat cheese) about 5 years ago, so I’m transitioning back to what I know. My stomach has tolerated bone broth quite well, but I’m having a shitty (heh) time with non-liquids. I drank bone broth for ten days without a problem. On Saturday, I had a chicken drumstick. Today (Tuesday), I had 2 oz of beef. I’ve had horrible stomach cramps and runny number 2. I know the meat itself wasn’t bad because my omnivore husband had no problem eating much larger quantities of the same material. In the meanwhile, I’m definitely not getting enough fat/protein. I have eggs in butter in the morning but otherwise I’m all veggies and a bit of fruit. I’m quite hungry since I’ve given up rice/beans, which was the bulk of my diet. What I've noticed today(potatoes story)

Story goes: Yesterday some user on nootropic sub mentioned how Monster energy drink did wonders for his mental state - so what esle to do then hop on local market and pick one ready for next morning After I did my routine for cleansing(don’t know if it’s helping me or not, some powder and tea), on empty stomach I drank it Not even finished the whole thing I felt good, better, stable and quite satisfied, similar to being “happy” I had some small meals after like walnuts, omlette with bacon and avocado Then lunch time, approx 5h after I finished my drink - meat and potatoes Haven’t finished yet and noticed anxiety, freaking anxiety man, what the hell!? Is anyone doing no meat / low animal fats paleo ?

Guys hi, I’ve been paleo close to 5 years now, eating mostly meats, seafood, veggies and a bit of fruits / tubers (never grains, vegetable oils, sugar, etc). I’ve never reacted good to pork, but lately i’ve noticed that even beef makes me a bit tired / heavy / worse digestion compared to chicken and seafood. Also i feel noticeable inflammation from rendered fats - tallow, lard, etc. Even big staple / favorite of mine beef marrow cause reaction if i eat more than a little of it. Problem without meat / animal fats it’s hard to feel satisfied on paleo with just chicken/seafood. So back to the title is anyone doing no meat / low animal fats paleo ? What are your staples / how do you feel satisfied / not hungry ? p.s. anyone went from lower carb to moderate carb?

ive recenty been eating more carbs just to see if i feel better. ive had health issues(low T, not great blood sugar, low thyroid(hashimotos), high cholesterol, anemia, poor sleep etc. that i dont blame on diet or anything but im just seeing if more carbs will help. i have been eating lower carb for about five or six years never going over 100 or so. ive tested my blood sugar for a while now and its not been how i want it to be and with upping the carbs im seeing higher numbers. im wondering if i need to go above 150g to see better numbers? ive heard this said before and im wondering if im insulin resistant due to a lower carb diet. my cholesterol hasnt been great and i need to lower my fat intake to get it better, which is why im upping my carbs a bit. anyone had a similar experience? im not sure if i left anything out but this is all i can think of right now submitted by /u/rickyjoanharvest [link] [comments] from paleo diet https://ift.tt/2RJ39p8 via IFTTT
