Gingerbread Lemon Meringue Pie Ahh Christmas. Just as you’re getting through the Spring Hay fever season your senses are hit with another attack; this time in the form of Michael Buble and excessive amounts of reindeer cheer. I do love Christmas but with each year the festive season seems to be starting earlier and earlier which can lead to Santa fatigue and a tinsel blow out. But now it’s December and there’s no holding… View On WordPress from Mummy Made.It https://ift.tt/35RwEtR via IFTTT

I’ve been on Paleo for 3 years now and after my physical the other day at the doctor’s office here is what they told me. Overall I’m happy, but what can I do about the cholesterol? Snow ⛄️ is on the way and my motivation to do most things has long disappeared (thank you senioritis and end-of-semester burn out 😂😅), so I’ve def been taking advantage of my freezer. One on my fave freezer meals lately was this #certifiedglutenfree and #vegan Vegetable Biryani from @saffronroadfood 😋. I love all their freezer meals I’ve tried, but this one was the perfect vibrant comfort food on a cold day 👌. What kind of freezer meals are you go-to’s (I’m a huge fan of pizzas and curries 👅)? [question] Can fruit cause sugar crashes?

Hello, everyone! I am wondering if there is anyone else who experiences sugar crashes and lethargy after eating fruit. I know it contains sugar, some fruit more than others, but I still hope that the fiber in fruit should somehow prevent my body from crashing. Nope, it’s still the same even if I consume fruit with nuts, peanut butter, etc. Thinking of switching completely to vegetables. Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/Vitebs47 [link] [comments] from paleo diet https://ift.tt/2rl3CUE via IFTTT

[Question] Paleo side effects in the first month

I’ve been on Paleo for a month, and I love it. My mood is vastly improved and my daily energy levels are higher. But here are three minor problems: 1) I am getting up several times a night to pee. This is definitely from the change in diet. I never used to wake up at all, mid-sleep. 2) I’ve had two canker sores and a bunch of tongue sores since I started Paleo. 3) I feel energetic, but… my strength at the gym is actually way, way down. I’ve lost 10+ in this first month (and tbh I didn’t need to lose any weight). I assumed it was just water weight. But maybe I’ve lost some muscle? Help?! I would love to hear from anyone who’s gone through any of these. My mood is much better on Paleo, but these drawbacks are pretty annoying. submitted by /u/timeofdaffodils [link] [comments] from paleo diet https://ift.tt/34hzdoH via IFTTT

[Question] Your best "utility" sauce because I have to use it every meal

Quick explanation is that I have heaps of trouble swallowing because I’m a head and neck cancer survivor. I’ve been paleo for a month but I’m having a really hard time not choking on the meat portions of the meals. I really need a utility sauce that will allow the meats to slide down and not get hung up. (BTW all your jokes are welcome, I’m solid with my situation. My friends are ruthless so there’s nothing I haven’t heard.) I had an extensive surgery called a ‘neck dissection’ and the end result is a poor ability to force food down. Mostly swallowing for me is allowing the food to drop backwards and down. This means a lot of aspirating if the texture is clingy or rough and there isn’t sufficient saucy liquid to allow the food bolus to slide on. I’ve been looking at paleo sauces but do you have a recommendation for your all-around fav? I’ll need it a lot (almost every meal really) so lower calorie/better for you is important. Taste isn’t crazy important and I don’t mind if it confli

[Discussion] What are your go to quick breakfasts similar to oatmeal?

If I can I typically have some bone broth and an avocado or something. I just really miss eating oatmeal. We bought this “Paleo breakfast” at whole foods and my understanding is that it’s just ground up pecans and walnuts. It’s decent but not worth the price in my opinion. With it getting colder out I’ve really been liking heartier foods that make me feel full. I guess what I’m asking is what are some of your quick filling breakfasts similar to oatmeal? Any input or other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! submitted by /u/bnoonan037 [link] [comments] from paleo diet https://ift.tt/2O7wNn8 via IFTTT

[Question] Digestion tips

I’m not sure if this is the best place to ask but I’ve gotten some good digestion advice here before so I wanted to try. I’m thinking of going from carnivore to paleo but incorporating more carbs because carnivore being restrictive is becoming difficult for me and low carb is affecting my hormones, something some women experience. Does anyone have any advice on reincorporating carbs since my body doesn’t have the proper enzymes to digest them after not eating them? I know you’re not doctors, but I’m just simply asking for tips or pointers. submitted by /u/brigidNYC [link] [comments] from paleo diet https://ift.tt/2OpRn0U via IFTTT

Foodie highlight of my week? Giving PB&J a festive makeover with help from @littlenorthernbakehouse 🙌🏻🙌🏻 (AD). I looove the classic peanut butter and jelly combo on toast, but wanted something a little more pumpkin-spicy 😏, so I came up with a Pumpkin, Banana and Jam version instead. This epic snack features 👉🏻 one slice of Northern Bakehouse’s #glutenfreevegan bread (that’s also non-GMO, made of whole-food ingredients and suuuper fluffy 🤯. I use their White Wide Slice bread here but also love their Seeds and Grains Loaf for extra crunch 👌) + a base of half almond butter and half pumpkin purée mixed with cinnamon and pumpkin spice + a caramelized banana coin ⛄️ with a peanut hat + hemp seed “snow” + a few swipes of strawberry jam and strawberry slices 😋. Even if you don’t get as “extra” in your decorating as I did 😂, I def recommend trying out a Pumpkin, Banana and Jam toast this holiday season, especially on any of @littlenorthernbakehouse’s certified gluten free brea

[Question] Does paleo mean keto

So I’ve been doing the carnivore for a year now and I love it and love the way it makes me feel except one thing. It seems being in keto kind of sets my hormones out of wack. Not all women experience this but I guess I’m unlucky. It might be because I cheat once in a while and eat carbs because carnivore is so strict. It’s hard to be on such a strict diet in social settings as well. I’m looking for an alternative that’s still healthy, but maybe is not necessarily keto. Would paleo be the answer? Does anyone incorporate carbs into their diet? If so, what would be a less detrimental carb? I’m thinking rice is better than wheat submitted by /u/brigidNYC [link] [comments] from paleo diet https://ift.tt/2KBd8ts via IFTTT

[Discussion] Beef Organ meats

I like the nutritional value of organ meat from beef such as liver, kidney, and heart. I’ve been reading that too much is a bad thing. I want to incorporate all three in my diet. I can’t verify that info myself since the studies are well over my head. A lot of blogs are bias when it comes to nutrition. How often can I eat all 3 once Per week? 15 Things I Wish More People Knew About Having Celiac Disease During the Holidays

Image
New blog post! If you’re new here…hi, my name is Casey. I was diagnosed with celiac disease around six years ago at age 17, and while living gluten free and with an autoimmune disease feels like second-nature most days, that changes a bit during the holidays. Because as jolly and fun as Thanksgiving , Christmas and New Years are, the holidays get a lot more complicated when you have a chronic illness and dietary restrictions. That’s why, this year, I want to share 15 things I wish more people knew about living with celiac disease during the holidays. If you have celiac disease, I hope this list helps you feel less alone in some of the unique, chronically-not-so-awesome struggles you may have this time of year. And if you know someone with celiac disease and want to give them a magical holiday season, keeping these 15 tidbits of information in mind can definitely help. So without adieu, let’s dive in.
