Workout recovery?

Anyone notice impaired recovery in adaptation phase? I’m currently very sore and achey and crampy despite cutting down my gym volume and frequency, all I see is how people recover faster on this diet and was just wondering how long roughly it will take for me to get to this point from Zero Carb Zebras http://bit.ly/2VDoDU4 via IFTTT

Procrastination

I think this is my least favourite part of the sad diet. For those who don’t know, I broke for various reasons and went back to eating sad, even though that wasn’t my intention. I’m starting back today on this woe, and I wanted to point out this thing called procrastination. The word procrastination is redefined based on people’s past experience with it. Some people don’t even clue in to it. Some people just think you’re lazy or unmotivated. There are multiple TED talks on this subject, and my favourite one is “Tim Urban: Inside the mind of a master procrastinator”. It highlights in a fun way the issues of procrastinators with some serious parts later on.Having the unfortunate advantage of going from zerocarb back into sad, I feel confident in proposing that, at least in 1 case, procrastination is in part due to your diet. The best way I can describe procrastination is the feeling of wanting to do something, knowing you are capable of doing it, but simply not doing that thing you want to ...

Cause for HD LSD Vision on ZC

So a while back we had this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/zerocarb/comments/b8qucb/lsd_vision/ where many people noticed that they get this super sharp vision. That also happened to me a couple of times but I could never really pinpoint on what causes it.Just now I had some veal liver with a lot of tallow. While eating the liver I got a strange feeling for about a second in my head and eyes and then I had this HD LSD like visionNow I wonder what exactly causes this. Surely it must be something in the liver as I eat a lot of tallow all the time. My first guess would have been the vitamin A as there is a huge amount of it in liver. But then I also eat about 6-8 egg yoks a day that which contain a decent amount of vitamin A (not like liver of course) too. However, I also eat about 200-400g of liver each week so it would be strange for me to be deficient in vitamin A. Furthermore, this HD effect does not appear every time I eat liver. So do you have any clue what could cause this? fro...

Anyone with PCOS and trying zero carb/carnivore?

Hello all! I have not tried zero carb/carnivore but my boyfriend does it. I want to try it for weight loss and mental clarity. My only issue is that I have polycystic ovarian syndrome. For PCOS, I’m recommended to not eat red meat or consume dairy. This is due to the hormones in food. PCOS is excess or lacking hormones and I am a little concerned about consuming large amount of dairy or red meat. Does anyone else have PCOS and does this successfully? Any tips or advice are appreciated! from Zero Carb Zebras http://bit.ly/2Eq7bMX via IFTTT

Carnivore Diet day 1

So day 1 of carnivore the only thing I notice is absolutely no stomach issues, and I’m very tired. Does the tiredness last until you are in ketosis? I really need to not have stomach issues all day long but at the same time I need enough energy to not just want to sleep all day!? from Zero Carb Zebras http://bit.ly/2YGCnPG via IFTTT

Hospital food

TL;DR bellowI think this sub is well aware of the terible food that is beeing served in hospitals. I’m from the EU, and I’m seeing this again and again when visiting people. Mostly simple carb based, low nutrient food, relativelly low in protein, which is terrible for recovery in my point of view.I’m wondering if carnivore types are even more vunerable and have lower chance of recovery if hospitalized. I would love to hear your opinion on the topic.Hospital food is terrible not only looking from carnivore point of view, but just generaly from a low carb/ancestral point of view.Example from yesterday: I was visiting an old relative of my wife in the hospital (80+, M). Healthy normal weight, active old guy, but he caught influenza, which is possibly deadly for someone his age. He was basically fighting for his life, he looked exhausted. We were there during dinner time, he was served: 3 pieces of this big white flour globs with traces of cottage cheese mixed in, fried breadcrumbs for gar...

What happens to the vitamins in meat when they are cooked?

I’m having a hard time finding anything that specifically is talking about nutrients in meat. I see a lot about vegetables, but nothing on specifically meat. from Zero Carb Zebras http://bit.ly/2YEMaWz via IFTTT

8 months on nocarb/carnivore(pic included)

So in September 2018 I started this WOE. The reasons for starting was to hopefully alleviate my migraines since the doctors couldn’t figure out the cause, and the medication wasn’t really preventing them. Some back story, I was diagnosed with Celiac disease in 2014, and doing a completely gluten free diet didn’t help me feel better. Still had migraines and generally feeling like crap.So I started the WOE, and within a week my migraines and stomach issues were completely gone, within a month my blood pressure with medication was so low I was getting dizzy. With doctors consent I got off my blood pressure pills and have normal BP to this day. I had a new sleep study done in March and I no longer have sleep apnea. I got off my migraine meds after a doctor’s visit in January. They also did blood work and other than low HDL cholesterol and slightly low sodium, the doctor said everything was normal. The biggest difference in eight months is the weight loss, not why I started this WOE, but I w...

Do the carbs in chicken gizzards and hearts count?

I added 15 oz of them in my fitness pal and it comes out to 30 or so carbs with no fiber. Is it ok to eat them every day or should I try to eat them only occasionally? from Zero Carb Zebras http://bit.ly/2JxlHGU via IFTTT

Depression is back

So I’ve been on the carnivore diet for 1 month now to address mental health concerns (depression and anxiety). About 3 weeks in my mental health issues resolved and I felt on top of the world. Unfortunately, I got sick (I’m assuming influenza) around the same time I was starting to feel better and it sparked a depressive episode. It’s been over 2 weeks since I first got sick and the majority of symptoms (runny nose, cough, lethargy) are gone but my depression still lingers. Any similar stories or tips? Thank you! from Zero Carb Zebras http://bit.ly/2Wlpi0E via IFTTT

So, uhh... this happened..?

hello there!sorry for being annoying, but I just got my small blood test back and while most things were good / “normal”,I have a very high amount of vitamin B12 in my blood (maximum is 771pg/ml; I got: 1700pg/ml!), as well as a lot offerritin (167μg instead of something between 15-150), which makes me a tiny bit concerned. Now, this is the internet, and while every site is telling me I’m going to die of kidney / liver failure or turn into a giant piece of steak, I still want to hear your thoughts. Especially if there’s anything else I should get checked (aka cholesterol with HDL / LDL / triglycerides?)Some further information: I’m female, 26 years old, 1,7m and around 90kg; carnivore + coffee for 4 months. Thanks in advance.Have a nice day! from Zero Carb Zebras http://bit.ly/2M15607 via IFTTT

Announcing r/CarnivoreMuscle

Hi folks, Despite the explosion in popularity of this diet, I’ve found there is still a dearth of information when it comes to bodybuilding, powerlifting, weightlifting, or just getting jacked and tan.I created r/carnivoremuscle as a place for us to come together and discuss, bounce ideas, and teach one another as we essentially pave the way for ourselves and others to figure out the best way to achieve our goals.I’ve gone ahead and taken a shot at scouring the web for decent youtube videos to get started, but I’d absolutely welcome more sources if you’re keen to share. I’m also not opposed to hiring on more mods if someone is so-inclined. from Zero Carb Zebras http://bit.ly/2VTDDlQ via IFTTT

Paleomedicina and 2:1 fat/lean ratio

I’ve been dieting for 20 years and have maintained a 100 pound weightloss for that long so I know all about satiety/CR/etc and have been keto/ZC for a majority of this time. Isn’t the prescription of 400 g of 2:1 fatty meat(~1500cals) really just a calorie restricted WOE? I’m perfectly fine with this prescription but was questioning why people think it is so magical? from Zero Carb Zebras http://bit.ly/2LWCJQK via IFTTT
