It’s never a bad idea to start or end anything with cookies, so this post seemed like a solid way to end 2019 😉. When my boyfriend asked to get some #glutenfreecookie 🍪 mix for us to bake with, I went with @bobsredmill because few of their products have ever let me down…and huzzah, here is another winner 🎉! We used their gluten free Chocolate Chip Cookie mix, which I also made #vegan by using @bobsredmill GF and vegan egg replacer and lower in fat by subbing the butter for mostly applesauce and a tiny bit of olive oil 👌. I baked the cookies a few minutes past the instructed cooking time and they came out super chewy, a lil’ crunchy around the edges and full of chocolate chips 🍫 - just how I like em! Definitely will be buying this mix again when I want a super easy baking project 👅. And I might do a more detailed post summing up my 2019 soon when I have more time…but for now, I’ll just say that it wasn’t the best of years but it did make me grow a lot 🤷🏻‍♀️ and I’m looking for

[question] 100 grams of carbs a day enough for an athlete ?

I’m just starting this diet after being keto for awhile . I felt like my performance was not as good while being fat adapted . I had stamina but not that burst of energy I needed . Anyways Is there any point of eating around 100-150 carbs a day ? Some told me you either want to be high fat low carb or high carb low fat .. is there no in between ? [question] do I need electrolytes when doing intermittent fasting on this WOE ?

Sorry guys this is probably a dumb question but I’ve been keto for 7 months and I’m just not sure if I still need to add electrolytes when doing a fast . I usually do a 15/16 hour fast and eat 2 meals during the day . [Question] Green Peas Paleo for you?

Would you buy a “Paleo Friendly” product that had green peas as an ingredient? Definitely a gray area in terms of POVs and the “Paleo Foundation” says NO to any legume including peas (but somehow white potatoes are ok according to them). For me, I’m mixed I think they are a good source of nutrition (protein and fiber) and very low in lectins (especially when cooked). [Question] New to Paleo

Hi all! I’m new to this subreddit as well as new to Paleo. I haven’t formally started yet but I plan to after new year’s (because I know the remaining holiday festivities is going to ruin it anyways). The main reason I wanted to start is that my daughter has an allergy syndrome that causes her to be allergic to all dairy, eggs, wheat, oats and rice. Most kids outgrow, but it will be around for a couple of years. So she pretty much already is on the Paleo diet, with added beans and quinoa for extra nutrition because she’s still a baby. I am tired of making seperate meals for her and my husband and I. I would like to just make one meal that we can all eat. The second reason is I have done keto in the past and I loved how I felt and I lost tons of weight, but I hated how restrictive it was and how you had to be so careful with carbs from fruits and potatoes. I just want to be healthy with the added bonus of losing weight from all the excess sugars and dairy! But I don’t want to sit the

[Question] Looking for new meal prep options

I meal prep my lunches for work. And for the last several years it’s worked out. I would cook one day, make five breakfasts, five lunches, I work five days in a row. But now my schedule is going to get wild for a few months until we can settle back down. So I need something different. I don’t have room in the freezer to make and freeze whole meals, I might be able to fit in small portions of stuff like proteins. Does anyone have easy cold meals that I can piece meal week to week no matter how my days fit together? I’ve tried looking and I have a few ideas. Like a few days of boiled eggs, carrots, pickles, various paleo muffins, salads. I might be able to cook up and individually freeze chicken legs to throw in as a protein. But I’m kind of stuck on good veggie choices that can either just be eaten cold or won’t take long to prep up no more than four days worth at a time. New blog post! “She says she has celiac disease? How do you even know that’s for real? I bet she just likes the attention.” “She’s not gonna get sick from someone using the same freakin’ kitchen utensils to make her food. Stop exaggerating.” “Her whooole life revolves around this so-called ‘disease.’ How is that healthy?” I have celiac disease…and these are just a few of the things I’ve had said about me, and my chronic illness this year. Before these comments rose up, I thought I’d faced about every challenge I could related to living with celiac disease. I’ve been hospitalized for malnutrition when going gluten free initially wasn’t enough  to heal me from intestinal damage. I’ve survived college (and once I graduate this coming May, grad school as well) while cooking all of my own gluten free meals. I’ve created strong - romantic and otherwise - relationships. I’ve even learned how to eat gluten free for $35 a week or less. But 2019 made it painfully obvious that I hadn

[Question] Is it possible to eat a high-carb paleo diet without starch?

I’ve had tremendous success controlling a health issue with the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (a super-strict paleo variant that stresses the elimination of starches), but it has dampened my overall energy levels and gaining back weight has been a challenge. I’ve read about other diets that similarly restrict starches to great effect, but I’m wondering how one can achieve an adequately high daily calorie intake (>2500) without the use of starches or eating like 30 bananas a day. [question] Can eating too much protein lead to constipation?

I have been eating lots of animal protein over the last few weeks, mainly chicken, sometimes beef. There were times I could eat ½ of a whole chicken (breast, wings and legs) paired with rice and veggies at one sitting. I know, that is a lot, so I decided to cut down my protein intake several days ago and limit myself to 1 chicken breast a day. I eat lots of vegetables, but can a diet high in protein, at least compared to what I was eating before, result in bowel motility issues? I started eating chia seeds and prunes yesterday hoping maybe they would bring some relief. I would be glad to hear your personal stories if someone has some. [Other] Paleo in Seattle.. and is Carnivore restaurant still open?

Hey everyone, Me and my girlfriend were going to be in Seattle overnight and we were wondering if there’s anywhere that’s actually Paleo friendly to eat at? It says Carnivore is permanently closed on Google, but they were posting up until a month ago on Facebook. My girlfriend is gluten sensitive, and im weirdly allergic to vegetable/seed oils as well as dairy. Last time we were there we went to Capitol Hill cidar and literally all they could make me was bacon and a green salad with a basic olive oil vinegrette.. I’d rather avoid this again, but from my googling Seattle seems pretty keen on making me drink soybean oil. [Question] Are coconut milk and coconut cream estrogenic like soymilk?

A couple of years ago I tried a non-dairy milk and soymilk was good but afterwards I felt weird and weaker. Also some odd sensation down there no lie along with a gut but instead I switched over to hempmilk and everything felt normal again. Though hempmilk is expensive and Im getting tired of those expensive trips to Whole Foods and saw that coconut milk seemed like a nice paleo-keto type of choice. But I had it once and I had the same feeling with the soymilk. [Question] Are cans from Glory Foods truly BPA free as they claim? I was planning on buying canned greens from them.

[Discussion] Should we have the same Macros every day? Or mix it up?

According to the book Antifragile (not a nutrition book) the author posits that there may be health benefits to having variable macro profiles on a day-to-day.. for example: Have no (or low) protein Monday, have no (or low) carbs Tuesday. The thinking behind this being that it may resemble human anthropological eating patterns or at the very least, the disorderly nature of the diet has some benefit or hormesis (what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger). Does anyone experiment or consistently do this? It’s common and maybe beneficial to have variety in your diet from day to day, but what I’m asking about is the variability in your daily Fat/Protein/Carb ratio, because it seems like it’s less common/popular for that to change significantly in a targeted way. Obviously fasting is a great and popular way to change things up and is a method of hormesis, BUT I don’t often hear of people saying they eat no protein one day, for example (excluding fasting). I have fish every morning and decided to try flounder since it was reasonably priced at Costco. So far I’m not really a fan, could be how thin they are or could be I’m not cooking them right. [question] Eating whole foods means prep work

and I have about THIS MUCH energy to spare. I have chronic depression and am dealing with super duper side effects from my meds, so I don’t have anything in me right now to prep food with; however, I also know that when I eat better, I feel better. How do you make eating clean easy for you? Convenience food easy. I’m not trying to do strict paleo, because at this point I just need to start. See my whining below: I don’t eat anything at all right now apart from supper, so there’s no desire to make food to begin with. Throwing out all prepared foods the way that someone on every form inevitably suggests isn’t an option, because I have other people to feed and that’s WAY too complicated right now. No nuts, botanical or culinary, because I hate some and the others hate me; no eggs, although use as a binding agent or a wash is usually okay; no aquatic tasties apart from salmon. Why salmon? I don’t know. I only need to have clean food for myself, even just one meal a day and some snack

This Pressure Cooker Beef Bourguignon is the perfect dish to make on cold nights when warm and hearty comfort food is deemed an essential remedy to the dropping temperatures, dinner demands to be eaten from wide deep bowls while curled up on the couch, and a large bottle of red wine is within arms reach. For those who are unfamiliar, Beef Bourguignon (or Bouef à la Bourguignon if you’re extra fancy) is a traditional French beef stew braised in red wine and beef stock, most often complimented with carrots, pearl onions, mushrooms, bacon, garlic, and herbs. One of the most well-known variations of this classic dish can be found in Julia Child’s staple cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Julia’s version is, simply put, phenomenal. It also happens to be extremely labor-intensive, clocking in around 5 hours from start to finish. Because of the lengthy process, her recipe is suitable for relaxed weekends or very special occasions, but certainly not for the average weeknight.

[Question] How long have you kept bone broth? What storage methods have you successfully used?

My body is not a Paleo temple, but I am trying to eat more in the Paleo philosophy by cutting way down on processed foods and CAFO grain fed meats. I noticed how happy my body is when I have homemade bone broths. My question is– once you make a bone broth and keep it refrigerated, what is your experience with how long it remains safe to consume? What about reheating to a boil every 3 days or so? What about if roaster drippings were saved under their own fat layer– are they truly trash after just 3-4 days like many guidelines suggest? I’m so fortunate to have gotten into grad school and so thankful for all I’ve learned going to school in Minnesota ☃️…but it’s been really dang nice to be visiting a place with TONS of easily accessible #glutenfreetreats 😏😏. Today’s find 👉🏻 @soozysgrainfree chocolate muffin, which I found in the freezer section at @mothersmarkets. It’s certified #glutenfree, dairy free, soy free and peanut free 🤯…but still verrry delicious. I let my muffin defrost for 10-15 mins outside the freezer - no microwave required - and loved the dense texture and rich, chocolatey flavor with crunchy chocolate chips 🍫scattered throughout. I’ve been seeing people posting about @soozysgrainfree for awhile but never had a chance to try. Now I totally understand the hype 😋, though the price ($1.25 per muffin, at this particular store) would make this a treat instead of a staple for me 👌👌. Do you like me posting these kinds of product reviews instead of just recipes/meals? I’d love your feedback 💕! via I

I eat 100% sweetener free. I am considering making the switch to only very occasional sweet things. Thoughts? [question]

For months I have been on this strict no sweetener kick. I have been feeling much better and have been enjoying other foods much more as a result. I eliminated sugars of all kinds except for 1 or 2 servings of whole fruit a day. I dont even eat overripe bananas or apples because they contain more sugar than I want to eat. I am thinking I may change my diet to allow for a small amount of paleo sweeteners on days I workout or some similar deal. What amount would you recommend to maintain the same benefits of not eating any at all? Tell me some very simple paleo recipes!

Hi guys, a young man living in Korea. Not north :) I’m going to start ‘Paleo diet’, but I’m here to get some help. because I have less information about the 'Paleo diet’ in Korea. Prices of beef here are quite expensive, so I usually try to use pork or chicken. Also, I am a minimalist, so all cooking utensils are saute pan, induction, kitchen knife, cutting board. No oven! I have kale, salt, pepper, vinegar, bay leaf, kiwi, apple, soy sauce, Soybean paste, red wine, sweet potato. Without an oven, what simple Paleo Recipe can be done with a single fan? Until now, I ate simple cooking methods such as bossam and steak. Mostly with a translator, so please understand that the grammar is strange. I’ll wait for your help.
