How do you store meat for longer time?

Hey! I’m buying a lot of meet and I keep it in the refrigerator (not the freezer) and when I take it out for cooking, the color already changes and becomes paler and the smell is less fresh.Do you guys have tips to store the meat for a longer time? I can put it in the freezer and then defrost it before I cook it, sure, but is there a better way? Like wrapping in some kind of material to preserve the meat?Thanks in advance!!!
