Glucose and the brain

I’ve grown up low carb (my moms a type I diabetic) and always had good success on it. Just curious where I can find some information on zerocarb and the theory that the brain needs a certain amount of glucose to function. I’ve googled but can’t find any good sources. Recommendations? Thanks!
